This is called shape memory. It’s made from an alloy of titanium and nickel (I believe it’s called nitinol). It has the ability to “remember” the shape it’s taken.
When cold you can bend it whatever which way, but once you heat it (or in this case put it in what I presume is hot water) it will take the original shape.

What a blatant reminder. I feel like most of us are distracted from this inevitable ending of life. Music, internet, drugs, and television all distract us from thinking about death, and what happens afterwards. How does death feel ? Does thinking about whether there is an afterlife or not scare you as much as it scares me ? I wish the topic of death was a comfortable subject to talk about.
I don’t see why we need to constantly be reminded. Sure, don’t be afraid of it or of talking about it, but death is just part of life and you’re in the living stage so who cares?
