ancient egyptian funerary text. around 1550 BCE. consists of magic spells that assists the dead’s journey through the underworld and into the afterlife. is included in the pyramid texts and coffin texts. mostly hieroglyphic on papyrus with pictures illustrating the deceased’s journey. is usually placed in a burial place or coffin and sometimes depicted on tomb walls.

usually directly in the center of the tongue. most popular piercing after ear and nose (both of which i have). is a ritual piercing in aztec and mayan cultures. uses a straight barbell, and can be either plastic, metal or glass. a popular style is called venom piercings, which are two peircings side by side horizontally.

the strix
ancient greek word for owl. considered a bird of ill omen. they feed on flesh and blood. legend goes that two brothers are punished for cannibalism by being turned into owls. the myth grew in the middle ages and in Romania. the strix were seen as feminine.
